Telemedicine has had a slow start in most sub Saharan countries.  However the COVID19 pandemic has accelerated the necessity of telehealth more than before globally.  The need to social distance, inadequate healthcare facilities and workers and inaccessibility and remote areas will now be managed through telemedicine initiatives.  Now that the HPCSA has issued guidelines to allow practitioners to use telemedicine in South Africa, it is imperative for healthcare providers and related stakeholders to become more informed about the reality of digital health and the opportunities it comes with of efficiency, low costs and improved outcomes.  The Southern Africa Telehealth Conference will bring about all sectors of the healthcare industry, tech companies that provide solutions for telemedicine and other key players like regulators and social scientists. African governments and healthcare bodies will learn from each other and share experiences.
