Access to innovator medicines remains a significant challenge in South Africa. For this reason, we bring the follow-up to last year’s inaugural high-level workshop on innovative medicines. The workshop will aim to provide participants with a thorough understanding of the challenges and will address possible solutions. The event will further provide an overview of the current state of access to innovator medicines in South Africa, including successes, and gaps. Discussions will include the role of all stakeholders, the importance of equity and human rights, and the need for strong health systems. We will explore the strategies and interventions required to ensure access to innovator medicines, such as improving the regulatory environment, strengthening supply chains, and promoting innovation and affordability.
There will be interactive discussions with the panellists to reflect on the day’s content and identify opportunities and challenges to improve access to innovator medicines in the public and private sectors.
